CASA of Los Angeles is a non-profit organization whose mission is to mobilize community volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. The CASA organization supports these volunteers in their role as Court Appointed Special Advocates. Advocates check on the child's situation, identify needs, and provide the dependency court with recommendations in the best interest of the child.
The CASA organization supports Court Appointed Special Advocates as they work on placement improvements, family visitation and meeting medical, mental health, education and special needs. The results are higher levels of safety, permanency, and well being for children in the system. Key initiatives target high-risk populations including infants, toddlers ages 0-5, transition age youth, medically fragile, and those with acute mental health and educational needs.
